World Open Sources ProveKit Zero-Knowledge Proof Toolkit
World has announced the open-source release of the ProveKit zero-knowledge proof toolkit, which has been used in early access within World ID. ProveKit allows users to generate cryptographic proofs directly on their mobile devices or browsers without revealing personal data; verifiers only receive confirmation of specific statements. The toolkit employs local proof generation, eliminating the need to send sensitive personal information to external servers, thereby reducing the risk of data exposure. ProveKit has been in development for about two years, supports the Noir language, and can run on standard consumer hardware such as smartphones and browsers, targeting 128-bit post-quantum security without requiring a trusted setup. The v1 version is now production-ready, focusing on off-chain verification, while the v2 version is under development, expected to reduce proof size, time, and memory usage, and support Groth16 to enhance on-chain verification efficiency.
