Utorg Launches iPhone App, Official Channel Statements Diverge

Utorg has announced the launch of its consumer app for iPhone, named Utapp, but the service descriptions on its official site and terms of service are still inconsistent. The app is said to bundle self-custody wallets, cards, and gasless swap features, but the wording surrounding the actual offerings varies across different channels.

CoinJournal reported that Utorg provides self-custody wallets, cards, and gas-free swap functionality through Utapp for iPhone users. However, Utorg's official personal page indicates that the app is "available for Android" while stating that the iPhone operating system is "coming soon."

The issue goes beyond merely the app's release. Utorg emphasizes on its personal page the structure of bundling self-custody wallets and free cryptocurrency cards within a single app. This page claims to support over 2 million users, more than 80 million merchants, over 170 assets, and more than 12 blockchains.

A press release issued by Utorg on July 30 also illustrates the company's consumer and infrastructure expansion trends. The document states that Utorg operates with over 2 million users across more than 130 countries. However, since these figures are provided by the company, it is essential to distinguish them from the actual service availability.

The structural terms are further divided. In the terms of service updated on July 1, Utorg describes the app as non-custodial wallet software. Users directly control their private keys and assets, while purchases, card top-ups, and swaps are connected to third-party payment and liquidity providers.

The card service is also not stated to be issued directly by Utorg. The terms specify that the Utorg card service is provided in collaboration with Chain Valley Sp. z o.o., Wirex Pay, Wirex Limited, or related affiliates. Utorg itself clarifies that it is not the card issuer, payment account provider, electronic money issuer, or payment institution.

The swap functionality follows a similar trend. On June 15, Utorg announced on its blog that it had implemented gasless swaps in the Utorg app. This feature is said to support seven networks, including Ethereum (ETH), Polygon, Binance Smart Chain (BSC), Optimism (OP), Arbitrum (ARB), Avalanche (AVAX), and Solana (SOL).

Gasless swaps do not mean that transaction fees are eliminated. Users do not need to hold native tokens separately, as network fees are processed from the tokens being exchanged. Utorg's terms define in-app swaps as third-party services through the deBridge protocol.

The terms on a separate card site present a different picture. The terms at utorgcard.com state that from January 1, 2026, utPay.io will only provide euro-denominated debit card account management and technical support to existing Utorg card users. The same document indicates that services related to virtual currencies and cryptocurrencies have been suspended and will not be provided until Utrg UAB obtains the necessary licenses under the EU MiCA regulations.

In contrast, the homepage of the card site displays that it is available for both iPhone and Android users and supports Apple Pay and Google Pay. The personal page of Utorg and the bottom of the Utorg blog still state that the iPhone operating system is "coming soon." A search in the App Store also shows a list of apps that appear to be connected to Utorg, but with descriptions related to real estate and different developer information, making it difficult to definitively link them to the iPhone app distribution mentioned in this report.

Regulatory statements are also not consistently interpreted. Utorg's official business page claims that its infrastructure has received MiCA approval and states that it can operate in 29 countries within the European Economic Area. However, the terms on the card site explain that cryptocurrency-related services have been suspended until the necessary approvals are obtained, necessitating a separation of which regulatory status applies to the consumer app, card, and infrastructure.

User reactions have also been mixed. Trustpilot features positive reviews from July stating that the card worked quickly. However, on August 16, a negative review was posted regarding wallet usage issues, and the company responded by stating that the Utorg cryptocurrency wallet remains available.

Consumer cryptocurrency apps typically involve a structure where wallet software, payment cards, swap routing, and fiat currency deposit/withdrawal connections are layered over multiple business contracts. While they may appear as a single app on the surface, the actual responsible entities, available regions, and payment/liquidity providers can differ by function. This is why verifying the terms of service, app store distribution status, and card issuance entities is crucial.

For domestic users, the jurisdiction of the service terms and the providing entities are more direct points of verification than the availability of the iPhone app installation. The conditions of use may vary depending on which corporation provides the card service through which payment network and where cryptocurrency-related features are available. It is also necessary to distinguish whether the EU MiCA-related wording applies to the entire consumer app or is limited to the card or infrastructure business.

This matter can be viewed as Utorg's efforts to expand its consumer wallet and card ecosystem. However, the actual distribution scope of the iPhone app, the entities providing card services, and the scope of cryptocurrency service resumption under European regulations are presented differently across official channels. The currently confirmed official wording makes it difficult to link the launch report and service scope as the same meaning.
