Chainlink's CCIP Absorbs $7 Billion in a Massive Migration of Protocols

  • CCIP allows the connection of assets from different cryptocurrency networks.
  • The growth is due to companies and platforms seeking security.

During the second quarter of 2026, over $7 billion in token value operating across various cryptocurrency networks migrated massively from other tools to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). This massive mobilization drove a year-on-year jump of 353% in the volume processed by the network.

According to Chainlink, the adoption responds to a search for security by companies and platforms. Various organizations abandoned the infrastructure of legacy bridges after experiencing suffering from software vulnerabilities or exploits, opting instead for Chainlink's architecture as their standard.

CCIP allows for the secure connection of different cryptocurrency networks. The tool functions as a network of oracles that transmits messages and transfers data or assets between independent cryptocurrency networks, eliminating single points of failure that used to compromise traditional cross-chain bridges.

During this period, CCIP recorded one of its highest quarterly volumes with $4.9 billion. Various decentralized projects and large-scale financial institutions executed direct transitions to move all their liquidity and operations to this interoperability standard, Chainlink stated in its quarterly report.

Among the most significant movements was Mantle, which migrated $2.5 billion in its MNT token. Additionally, the network updated its Super Portal, developed in conjunction with the exchange Bybit, to integrate CCIP as its exclusive multichain infrastructure on July 8.

Meanwhile, KelpDAO completed the migration of $1.5 billion in the rsETH token, a liquid restaking asset. The protocol's decision was made immediately after the LayerZero cross-chain messaging infrastructure suffered a security exploit on April 18, 2026.

The segment of assets linked to Bitcoin (BTC) recorded notable flows. Lombard Finance migrated over $1 billion in BTC-based assets, while Solv transferred over $700 million in tokenized BTC to Chainlink's protocol.

Furthermore, the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken adopted CCIP to manage over $330 million in kBTC. The company extended this infrastructure as a standard for all its future wrapped assets.

The migration also encompassed the artificial intelligence sector. The platform Virtuals moved its VIRTUAL token, valued at over $700 million, specifically used for executing cross-chain payments between autonomous AI agents. In parallel, Re completed the transfer of $475 million in distribution of its reUSD asset.

The decentralized governance ecosystem validated this technical movement. LlamaRisk, a risk manager for Aave, updated its operational framework by incorporating Chainlink's data and orchestration standards through a proposal in the DAO approved with 100% of the votes. Meanwhile, Lido detailed the security principles of its multi-chain strategy for the wstETH token and selected CCIP as its official solution.

Adoption by traditional commercial firms and financial platforms marked milestones along the same lines. Robinhood launched its own network on July 1 and adopted Chainlink as its official data and interoperability oracle from day one, as reported by CriptoNoticias. The goal is to facilitate the development of decentralized finance (DeFi) applications and asset exchange.

Additionally, the international banking entity Citi highlighted CCIP in its Tokenization 2030 report as the standard that, according to them, will connect the tokenized global financial system. This analysis projects that tokenized asset markets will reach a total value of $8.2 trillion by 2030.
