Wellgistics Health secures a $50 million credit line to adopt XRP as a treasury reserve asset. The company will use XRP to enable instant, low-cost healthcare payments across its national network. This move positions Wellgistics as a blockchain pioneer in the U.S. pharmaceutical distribution sector. Wellgistics Health has secured a $50 million credit facility to integrate XRP as both a reserve asset and the backbone of its new real-time payments framework. This move positions Wellgistics as a healthcare industry pioneer, one of the first publicly traded firms to adopt XRP at the treasury level and for U.S. operational settlements. XRP to Power Fast, Transparent Healthcare Transactions With funding from a newly established Equity Line of Credit, Wellgistics is set to overhaul traditional banking processes by implementing blockchain-driven liquidity and payment systems. The goal is a frictionless healthcare ecosystem where transactions between suppliers, manufacturers, and pharmacies happen instantly, without excessive fees or reliance on outdated financial intermediaries. The company plans to use the XRP Ledger to build a more agile and transparent infrastructure, breaking down long-standing inefficiencies in one of the nation’s most heavily regulated sectors. Related: Understanding the Difference: Why Ripple Needs Both XRP and RLUSD “We’re investing in infrastructure that accelerates progress, not delays it,” said Brian Norton, CEO of Wellgistics. “Our focus is on building faster networks, cleaner data pipelines, and smarter platforms.” Wellgistics Cites XRP’s Speed, Cost, and Transparency Wellgistics cited XRP’s speed, cost-efficiency, and transparency as major factors behind its selection. Transactions on the XRP Ledger are completed in about five seconds, far outpacing ACH or wire transfers that can take days. Each transaction costing less than $0.0002 offers a compelling alternative to expensive traditional methods. Additionally, the XRP Ledger’s on-chain transparency allows real-time compliance, automation, and pricing tools—features Wellgistics will embed directly into its operations. Real-World XRP Use in Healthcare Supply Chain The company envisions multiple use cases for XRP within its network, including: Instant fund transfers among pharmacies, suppliers, and manufacturers Smart rebate automation tied to prescription-level analytics Credit lines in XRP for independent pharmacies International payments with minimal currency conversion and transfer fees Transparent, immutable audit trails for compliance and pricing oversight Wellgistics Aligns with Rising Institutional Interest in XRP Wellgistics’ move comes at a time when institutional interest in XRP is ramping up. CME Group is preparing to launch cash-settled XRP futures in May 2025. Mastercard recently cited XRP as one of the leading bridge assets for cross-border payments in a new report. Ripple, the company backing XRP, is also expanding its reach. It acquired Hidden Road for $1.25 billion to bolster prime brokerage services. It has also gained regulatory approvals in Dubai and grown its live payment corridors in Brazil and Portugal. Related: Understanding the Difference: Why Ripple Needs Both XRP and RLUSD As the XRP ecosystem continues to gain traction, Wellgistics is making a strategic bet on blockchain’s role in the future of U.S. healthcare payments. Its adoption of XRP mirrors a broader shift, with companies like Worksport also turning to XRP for treasury diversification. Interestingly, even the U.S. government recognizes it as a viable reserve asset, albeit without immediate acquisition plans.
