Fable 5 Expenditure at 11.4%, Limited AI Adoption
Anthropic's artificial intelligence model, Fable 5, accounted for 11.4% of corporate spending in July. There are analyses suggesting that the usage patterns of corporate clients are shifting towards cost-centric approaches. According to the AI index from spending management firm Ramp, Fable 5 represented 6% of the tokens purchased for the Anthropic model. Fable 5, a mythos-level model released on June 9, is priced at $10 per million tokens for input and $50 per million tokens for output. However, corporate spending did not concentrate on the highest-performing models, as OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol accounted for 23% of spending during the same period. The expenditure attributed to Fable 5 was about 75% of that of GPT-5.6 Sol. Ramp interprets that companies are reaching their upper limits of AI spending and points out that the high price of Fable 5 cannot be justified solely by performance improvements. In July, 43.5% of U.S. companies spent on Anthropic subscriptions or tokens, which is an increase of 1.1 percentage points from the previous month. Companies tend to use cheaper models for repetitive tasks and more expensive models for complex research tasks. The distribution structure of Fable 5 also affects usage interpretation, with initial data indicating that over 95% of Fable 5 sessions did not generate alternative responses.
