Trump Claims Growth Won't Lead to Inflation, Advocates for Lowest Global Interest Rates
U.S. President Donald Trump stated on social media that the latest employment data is strong, and the market should have risen; however, due to concerns about inflation, the stock market fell instead. He pointed out that when the U.S. economy performs better, policies suppress growth, asserting that "growth will not lead to inflation." Trump believes that the U.S. economic growth rate should reach a GDP growth level of 15% to 20%, rather than the current 2%, 3%, and 4%. He advocates for the U.S. to have the lowest interest rates in the world, claiming that the U.S. drives the global economy and helps other countries develop. He warned that for every 1 percentage point increase in interest rates, the U.S. would incur an annual cost of $650 billion, emphasizing that lower rates help reduce the debt burden.
