Peach Limits P2P Bitcoin Sales Under New Rules
- Only some sellers will be able to create sale offers.
- The maximum per transaction will be 500 Swiss francs (about 618 dollars).
Peach, a peer-to-peer (P2P) bitcoin (BTC) exchange platform, announced changes to its operations that will take effect on September 1, 2026.
The platform will temporarily pause its escrow model involving Peach and will apply new conditions for those wishing to sell bitcoin, while awaiting the Swiss regulator's decision on its compliance model.
Since the mandatory application update, new sale operations will use a single-signature escrow, where only the seller's signature will be required. Peach will no longer have a signature in the mechanism. The dispute system within the application will remain available, although the company will not participate with a signature in the escrow.
The creation of sale offers will be limited to users who have completed the KYC (Know Your Customer) identity verification process, to users manually included on a whitelist, and to unverified sellers who meet certain history requirements.
For the latter, it will be necessary not to have lost any disputes and to have more than 60 sales, or to have more than 30 sales, over 80 total operations, and no disputes lost. Peach notes that it currently has no users manually included on that list.
Sellers who have not completed KYC will be able to participate in only one simultaneous transaction, although they may post more than one offer. The measure aims, according to the statement, to prevent a seller from involving multiple buyers in potentially problematic transactions at the same time.
The new rules also set a maximum limit of 500 Swiss francs (approximately 618 dollars) for fiat money per transaction. Additionally, the transaction grouping system will no longer be used. Peach indicates that when a transaction concludes, buyers will immediately receive their bitcoin in their wallets.
Ongoing transactions when the update is applied will remain valid. However, existing sale offers at that time will no longer be available to buyers, who will only be able to request a refund.
Peach was initially created in 2020 and began operating in 2022 with a P2P bitcoin market proposal without KYC.
According to the development team, that year a Swiss self-regulatory organization (SRO) allowed the platform to operate under that model, with daily and monthly limits. The company also claims to have passed independent audits in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Peach notes that the regulator sent a letter last month to reconsider the compliance agreement, although the statement does not specify the reason for that review. The company states that it will respond to the regulator and will comply with its decision if it ultimately loses the argument.
As the process continues, the development team considers that Peach is at a "crossroads" and is contemplating the possibility of diversifying the platform into a suite of self-custody services, beyond the P2P market.
As CriptoNoticias has shown, Peach is available to users in Latin America, Spain, and other European countries. It is a platform focused exclusively on bitcoin.
