Murata to Cease Production of Certain MLCCs, Potential Orders Shift to Yageo, Walsin, and Others
Murata will cease production of several multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) products and has advised customers to seize the last opportunity to place orders. Industry insiders anticipate that after the production halt, customers will initiate a mechanism to switch to alternative suppliers, with companies such as Yageo, Walsin Technology, Holitech, and Xinchang Electric likely to receive the redirected orders. This adjustment includes older products and part numbers, stopping certain general-purpose items and those originally included in the renewal plan, promoting the replacement of outdated products. The notification covers certain products from nine series, including GRM, GRJ, GRT, GXM, GXT, GCM, GCJ, GCG, and ZRA, applicable to consumer electronics, industrial equipment, and automotive markets. Customers must complete the transition to alternatives by December 31, 2027, with the final order date set for March 31, 2028, and the last shipping date for March 31, 2029.
