In Ukraine, 5,015 minors officially found employment in the first 7 months of 2026, most of whom are teenagers aged 16-17. In Kyiv, 1,642 teenagers were employed, accounting for nearly a third of the total, and 1,100 in the Dnipropetrovsk region. These two regions make up 55% of all officially employed teenagers. The highest growth rates in the employment of minors are observed in the Ivano-Frankivsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions, where the increase was more than double, as well as in Kyiv. In the age category of 14-15 years, only one child was officially employed in the Odesa region. Experts note that the labor shortage is prompting businesses to actively attract youth. The share of open contacts in the resumes of candidates under 18 has increased from 2.5% in 2021 to 4.5% in 2025. In the McDonald's network, teenagers aged 16-17 make up 15% of the workforce. The State Employment Service helped to employ 225 minors, with leading regions being Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, and Khmelnytskyi. According to legislation, official employment is allowed from the age of 16, with a reduced workweek of up to 36 hours and no night shifts.
