Glen Hansard, Oscar-winning actor and musician, has passed away
Glen Hansard, the Irish musician and actor, died today in a motorcycle accident in Dublin at the age of 56. His management company confirmed the death, expressing the deep sorrow of his family and requesting privacy. Local police are seeking witnesses to the accident, which involved only one vehicle. The Prime Minister of Ireland, Micheál Martin, expressed his condolences, highlighting Hansard's cultural contributions to Ireland. Born in Dublin, Hansard began his career on the streets and formed the band The Frames in 1990. He was also part of the duo The Swell Season with Marketa Irglova. His film 'Once' won the Oscar for the song 'Falling Slowly', which was adapted into a successful Broadway musical. Hansard released several solo albums, including 'Didn't He Ramble', which was nominated for a Grammy in 2016. He made his film debut in 'The Commitments' in 1991 and appeared in an episode of 'The Simpsons' in 2006.
