Gas Stations in Frontline Regions May Receive Critical Infrastructure Status
In Ukraine, there is a consideration to grant gas stations in frontline regions the status of critical infrastructure, which would allow for the attraction of additional resources for their protection and ensure uninterrupted fuel supply. Viktor Mykyta, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, reported this following an operational meeting in the Sumy region. He noted that the need for additional protection arose due to attacks by Russian troops on fuel infrastructure and civilian road transport. In response to the changing situation in the Sumy region, over 400 kilometers of roads have already been protected with anti-drone nets, and work continues around the clock. Regional military administrations have been instructed to increase the volume of financial and logistical support for air defense units in the area. It is worth recalling that on May 18, Russian drones attacked facilities of the "Naftogaz" group in the Dnipropetrovsk region, destroying the UKRNAFTA gas station complex. At the end of June, former Infrastructure Minister Andriy Pyvovarsky reported that over 150 gas station complexes in Ukraine had burned down due to attacks in the past two months.
