CoinCircle (120BTC.COM) reports: Financial services company Fold has launched a Bitcoin gift card, entering the $300 billion retail gift card market. The Bitcoin gift card is now officially available on the Fold website and will gradually expand to major physical and online retail channels across the U.S. This gift card allows consumers to purchase and gift Bitcoin through familiar retail avenues, lowering the technical barriers for the public to access digital assets.

Americans Prefer Purchasing Valuable Assets Through Physical Channels
Fold's Bitcoin gift card allows users to purchase Bitcoin for personal savings or to gift to others, with cardholders able to redeem it through the Fold app. Fold CEO Will Reeves stated that customers can choose to use the gift card for themselves or give it away, and upon opening the app, the corresponding Bitcoin will be displayed. The gift card features a bright orange design with a white Bitcoin logo, displayed in the gift card section of physical stores, making it easy for consumers to find and purchase.

Warehouse club Costco sells up to $200 million worth of gold each month, indicating that American consumers are quite accustomed to purchasing expensive assets through physical channels.

Fold Partners with Totus to Reach 150,000 Sales Points Across the U.S.
Fold has teamed up with gift card issuer Totus to promote its products through Totus's extensive distribution network, reaching over 150,000 sales points. Will Reeves mentioned that Totus has direct connections to major retailers across the U.S., and the gift card distribution will cover large chain supermarkets, warehouse clubs, and gas stations, significantly expanding Bitcoin's presence in mainstream retail stores.

Bitcoin Gift Card Targets U.S. Consumers Yet to Engage with Cryptocurrency
The Bitcoin BTC gift card primarily targets U.S. consumers who are interested in cryptocurrency but have never purchased it. Many potential users may have never owned cryptocurrency due to not downloading a dedicated app, not opening a securities account, or not having heard of Bitcoin spot ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds). Fold believes that selling crypto assets through trusted traditional retail channels can lower technical barriers and create new promotional avenues.

Bitcoin Officially Enters the U.S. Consumer Gift Card Market
Gift cards are the most popular form of gifting in the U.S. During major holidays like Christmas, New Year, or birthdays, Americans typically use gift cards to give equivalent gifts to friends and family, similar to the Chinese custom of giving red envelopes. CEO Will Reeves estimates that as major retail channels across the U.S. begin to stock Bitcoin gift cards, it will enhance the acceptance and circulation of cryptocurrency.
