Claude E-commerce Agent Open-Sourced, Shopping Cart Size Increased by 35%, Purchase Rate Up by 60%
Anthropic has open-sourced Claude Commerce Agents, providing reference code for merchants to build their own shopping and operational agents. The system includes two agents: one for consumers, responsible for product search, comparison, bundling, and adding to the shopping cart; the other for merchants, managing sales, inventory, pricing, and marketing. The code is licensed under Apache 2.0. The shopping agent can only hand over the shopping cart to the merchant's checkout page and does not include a direct payment interface. The merchant agent must first generate modifications to be executed when adjusting prices, restocking, or modifying promotions, and these must be approved manually before implementation. Relevant restrictions are intercepted at the code level, covering rules for payment, product sourcing, price adjustment limits, and manual approvals. Anthropic does not recommend splitting functionalities like search, returns, and pricing into multiple sub-agents; instead, it suggests maintaining a single Claude conversation and loading different skills as needed. This solution has shown higher quality in deployments across multiple enterprises, typically saving tokens and reducing latency. According to feedback, one partner reported a shopping cart size increase of about 30% to 35% and a purchase completion probability increase of about 60%.
