Boca and Newell's draw 2-2 in the 2026 Clausura Tournament

Boca Juniors and Newell's Old Boys drew 2-2 at the Marcelo Bielsa stadium during the third round of Zone A in the 2026 Clausura Tournament. Newell's reached four points in Zone A, while Boca secured their first point and is in thirteenth place. Boca comes off a 3-0 loss to Riestra and has a pending match against Estudiantes. In the next round, Boca will host Vélez on August 8 at 19:15, and Newell's will visit Defensa y Justicia on August 9 at 17:45. In the first half, Boca dominated and opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a goal from Santiago Ascacibar after a cross from Sebastián Villa. However, a header from Lautaro Di Lollo was not called as a penalty by the referee or VAR. In the second half, Newell's equalized in the 49th minute with a goal from Matías Coccaro and then turned the game around in the 58th minute with a goal from Luca Regiardo. Boca equalized in the 81st minute with a goal from Alan Velasco after an assist from Tomás Aranda. In the end, Boca sought victory, but the score remained unchanged.
