Aviva Investors and Fortune 500: Ripple's Concrete Goals for XRPL by the End of 2026

Ripple President Monica Long predicts that 2026 will be the year of large-scale institutional adoption for the XRP Ledger, following the announcement by asset manager Aviva Investors to bring traditional funds on-chain via XRPL. Several Ripple executives support this expectation with specific forecasts — but the question remains how much will actually go live this year versus just announcements.

Aviva Investors as a Turning Point for Traditional Finance

On February 12, Monica Long shared via X that institutional momentum around the XRP Ledger is accelerating. This was prompted by the announcement that Aviva Investors, the asset management arm of insurer Aviva plc, is partnering with Ripple to tokenize traditional fund structures on the XRPL. Markus Infanger, SVP of RippleX, described this step as a moment when traditional finance is no longer experimenting but is actually moving on-chain.

The distinction between pilot and production environments is precisely what analysts continue to monitor critically. Previous initiatives — including collaborations around tokenized money-market-like products — remained in the testing phase for a long time. The Aviva deal is presented by Ripple as a signal that this boundary is now being crossed, although the exact live date and volumes have not yet been publicly confirmed.

Ripple also previously received MiCA approval in Europe, which strengthens the regulatory basis on which European institutions like Aviva can operate on XRPL. According to Long, this regulatory foundation is one of the main reasons that banks and asset managers are now taking concrete steps instead of waiting.

What Ripple's Leadership Specifically Predicts

Long's statements did not remain at a general sentiment. During XRP Community Day, she articulated concrete expectations: by the end of 2026, 50 percent of Fortune 500 companies would have a formal digital asset strategy or hold crypto on their balance sheets, and 5 to 10 percent of settlements in capital markets should occur on-chain via custodian banks and clearinghouses.

CEO Brad Garlinghouse referred to 2026 in January as the best-performing year ever for crypto markets, driven by regulatory clarity and institutional capital that he believes has yet to be priced in. Managing Director Reece Merrick added that by the end of the year, every major bank, asset manager, and payment network would have meaningful exposure to digital assets. CTO Emeritus David Schwartz described the involvement of institutions on XRPL as a shift from experimenting to operational infrastructure.

These are internally motivated forecasts from a party with a direct commercial interest — that does not negate the underlying signals being real, but it justifies a critical reading stance for any announcement presented as evidence for those forecasts.

Market Context: XRP at $1.07 While Adoption Narrative Builds

At the time of publication, XRP is trading around $1.07, a level far removed from the peak prices associated with previous adoption phases. Technical indicators had previously pointed to an oversold situation in XRP, with similar levels historically preceding sharp recovery rallies — although that does not guarantee a repeat.

The broader institutional context is also visible in the inflow into spot XRP ETFs, which, according to The Crypto Basic, have cumulatively exceeded $1.23 billion since their launch in November 2025. Companies like Evernorth, Webus, and VivoPower now hold XRP as a reserve asset on their balance sheets. These are measurable data points, in contrast to the yet-to-be-realized forecasts from Ripple executives.

The regulatory context in the U.S., including the anticipated CLARITY Act, remains a determining variable. Ripple executives explicitly state that broader bank integration depends on further clarity from Washington. As long as that is lacking, part of the predicted adoption hinges on a policy condition that lies outside Ripple's direct control.
