Arthur Hayes: Collapse of AI Computing Demand May Force the Fed to Print Money

By: x.com|2026/09/13 14:40:53

Arthur Hayes posted on the X platform that if companies like Anthropic, OpenAI, and SpaceX no longer act as buyers of computing power, the U.S. government may need to take on that role. If the disappearance of computing demand leads to defaults on related AI debts, the Federal Reserve may need to print money to bail out the insurance companies holding those debts. Hayes stated that regardless of the chosen solution, it will ultimately require an increase in the money supply to resolve the situation, jokingly referring to it as Yachtzee.
