Arab Airline Cancels Flights to Russia Following Zelensky's Warning

One of the largest airlines in the Middle East and North Africa has begun to cancel flights to Russia scheduled for the fall en masse. Passengers are having their bookings for October canceled and are being offered full refunds for purchased tickets. A mass notification of flight cancellations is expected soon. The cancellation of flight programs occurred after President Vladimir Zelensky's statement regarding the risks of air travel over Russia. He urged airlines and insurance companies to consider the dangers of flights to Russian cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg. Zelensky noted that while Ukraine does not intend to target civilian aviation, flights in Russian airspace pose a threat due to drones. Last week, Tanzania's national carrier suspended flights to Moscow for safety reasons following an incident involving a plane from Zanzibar. In August, Russian airports were halted nearly a thousand times due to threats from Ukrainian drones, setting a monthly record.
