Apple Launches M6 Chip Mac mini Starting at $899
Apple has updated its Mac mini and Mac Studio desktop computers, with the Mac mini now equipped with the M6 chip. Pre-orders have begun, and delivery is expected on September 22. The entry-level model's price has been raised to $899, which is $100 higher than the previous version. The higher-end version features the M5 Pro chip, starting at $1699. The new Mac mini's M6 chip delivers performance up to four times that of the M4, with graphics performance doubled and a 40% CPU improvement. The base configuration includes 16 GB of memory, expandable to 32 GB, with a bandwidth of 170 GB/s, processing LLM prompts 13.5 times faster than the M1 version. The Mac mini equipped with the M5 Pro is suitable for application development, video rendering, and scientific simulations, offering up to 18-core CPU, 20-core GPU, and up to 64 GB of unified memory (307 GB/s), supporting Thunderbolt 5. The Mac Studio has also been updated, with the version featuring the M5 Max starting at $2499 and the M5 Ultra version starting at $5499, both higher than the previous models. Two M5 Ultra machines can be connected to merge memory and run larger AI models.
